Vlade Divac Inducted into the World Sport Humanitarian Hall of Fame

Vlade Divac inducted into the World Sport Humanitarian Hall of Fame Early this morning, CET, Vlade Divac was officially inducted into the World Sport Humanitarian Hall of Fame in Boise, Idaho. Aside from our famed basketball player, the US football player, Warrick Dunn and former skier Jimmy Huega were also inducted. At the 14th inauguration ceremony in the World Sport Humanitarian Hall of Fame, new members were honoured in the Morrison Centre, in front of 1,000 guests. „This award represents a great honour for me, my family and all the people that took part in our humanitarian projects. It’s great to be recognized for work done in last 15 years and to be an example for those coming behind us“ – Vlade Divac said at the official ceremony. In a statement posted on the World Sport Humanitarian Hall of Fame website (www.SportsHumanitarian.com), it is said that, during his career as a basketball player, Vlade Divac actively participated in charity events through a children foundation called Group 7, and he raised over $9 million in humanitarian assistance for children in Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the US, Indonesia, Ethiopia and China. Today, he is the Chairman of the charity called Humanitarian Organization Divac which has been successfully raising money through the campaign ’You Can Do It Too’ with the aim of providing housing for refugees and internally displaced persons on the territory of Serbia. The World Sport Humanitarian Hall of Fame chooses individuals and organizations from amateur and professional sports who have done outstanding charity work. Up till now, over 35 individuals and organizations, including basketball players David Robinson, A.C. Green, Dikembe Mutombo, Kevin Johnson, Julius Irving, Steve Smith, tennis player Arthur Ashe, one of the pioneers of the US baseball league, Jackie Robinson, hockey coach Tom Landry, soccer legend Pelé and the Harlem Globetrotters team have been inducted.
