Here we feel helpless. We don't have a vision of what to do. When you have your own home, you have a vision of what to do and how to do it and how to go forward.
That's an element of life that keeps a man going, that gives him a promise of a more beautiful, better and happier life.
-Milan Pjevalica, refugee camp in Krnjaca |
The housing issue of 6,748 refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) remains unsolved. These people live in refugee centers, in poor conditions, terrible hygiene, without jobs, salaries, pensions and often without the opportunity to legally obtain any type of income.
In addition of losing their homes, most of them lost their family members, children, parents and spouses. Many of them were the lone survivors.
Every day they deal with the painful fact that they cannot provide for their children the basic needs for a normal life, opportunities for education and the happiness that other children have. Their children are growing up in isolated refugee camps, without the opportunity to build their future.
The "You Can Too" campaign was initiated with the goal to resolve this large social problem. Our goal is to help them realize their right to their own home, a job, material security and psychosocial help, in order to regain belief that there is a better tomorrow.
Help us to achieve this goal together. To those who have nothing, our help means everything. |
