About Divac Children's Foundation

I believe basketball provides today's children with necessary skills to choose the right path in life and become successful at whatever they decide to do. Having been privileged to play basketball at the highest level, I believe it is my duty to reach out to as many children as possible across the globe and teach them the importance of respect for self and others, teamwork, having a healthy mind and a healthy body, and love for your family and friends. I hope that through my foundation and programs we offer, I can have at least a small positive influence in the lives of these children.

Divac Children's Foundation (DCF) mission is to provide care, education, and healthy environment for children who suffer from isolation, poverty and displacement, without regards to politics, race, ethnicity or religion.

Each year, Vlade Divac hosts basketball camps and teaches children basketball fundamentals, team game and respecting others. Through fun and game, children learn values that are priceless when growing up. Collected funds from these camps are used for children in local communities as well as for children all around the world.

In addition to basketball camps, DCF implemented many different projects for children and their families. Some of them are:

Establishing computer learning centers in Serbia-Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina that brought students separated by war together through a computer-based curriculum;
Making new housing available to children and their families in tsunami-ravaged Indonesia;
Providing books and classroom instructional materials to children in Ethiopia;
Delivering clothing sets to children living in refugee shelters in Serbia;
Offering emergency aid including diapers, water, and other essential assistance to survivors of Hurricane Katrina in the United States;
Distributing school-supply kits and winter shoes to children in Montenegro;
Supporting after school programs in the Sacramento, Calif. area.
Delivering food parcels to refugees in Serbia;
Training elementary school children in Serbia's eight largest cities in the basics of dental hygiene;
Financially supporting Concordia International School of Shanghai for development of water supply system in villages of Yunnan Province in China;
Building new basketball court at Qingpu Democracy Migrant School in Shanghai, China as part of Divac Courts For Kids.

Divac Children's Foundation has provided more than 9 million dollars in humanitarian assistance and educational programs to children in Serbia-Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina, the United States, Indonesia, Ethiopia and China.
